The Highest Factor in Our Health
What could the highest factor in our health be? Is it the genes, our diet, our life style, the amount of exercise we get or something else? Well, all of the above play a role, but the highest factor is actually our thoughts. Let us explore this claim.
What are thoughts?
Thoughts are something, even though most people think that they are nothing and that it is of no importance what we think. As our thoughts are immaterial, their importance has been overlooked, but now may be the time to realize the enormous importance of thoughts. First of all there is a thought behind every manmade thing or invention. Everything manmade has been created on the basis of a thought. There is no exception to this. A chair, a bed, a house, a cup, a computer, an aeroplane, a car, a coat etc. … they were all a thought before they became a physical thing. This should be enough to tell us that thoughts are important. They are so important that nothing physical could exist without an underlying thought.
This also goes for the natural world. Everything in the natural world was also a thought before it became a physical thing. Everything in the physical world is materialized thoughts. Obviously the things we see in the natural world are materialized thoughts from a higher being, the galactic boss or simply God.
The importance of thoughts
A thought is a small electric current. It is a type of energy and energy can be measured. It is possible to measure thought activity when we put electrodes on the skull of a person. So, thoughts are not nothing, but measurable currents of energy. The quality of the energy in the thought is the highest factor in our health, according to Martinus. With our thoughts we energise our body. The energy of a thought is released directly into the blood, and this means that the quality of the blood totally depends on the content of our thoughts. With happy, positive and optimistic thoughts we magnetize our blood positively and good health follows. With angry, negative and pessimistic thoughts we magnetize our blood negatively and ill health follows.
Medical science is beginning to realize the importance of thoughts in our health, because it is becoming clear that certain negative thought patterns can lead to cancers, heart attacks and nervous breakdowns.
Interestingly, this was understood already in the early 1900s by the author James Allen, who wrote the book ´As a Man Thinketh´ about the power of thoughts. The book was published in 1903. Here is a small quote from the book:
“There is no physician like cheerful thought for dissipating the ills of the body; there is no comforter to compare with goodwill for dispersing the shadows of grief and sorrow. To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion, and envy, is to be confined in a self-made prison-hole. But to think well of all, to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all – such …unselfish thoughts are the very portals of heaven; and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their processor”.
-James Allen, ´As A Man Thinketh´
“This means that each man holds the key to every condition, good or bad, that enters into his life, and that, by working patiently and intelligently upon his thoughts, he may remake his life, and transform his circumstances.” Ibid.
These two quotes from James Allen really say it all and Martinus is in total agreement: you create your life, your circumstances and your health with your thoughts.
The other factors
This does not mean that the other factors mentioned at the beginning are not important also, and it is becoming clearer and clearer that a healthy lifestyle has a huge effect on our health. When I grew up the mainstream narrative was that it was the genes that were responsible for our health, our life span and our well-being. There were no other factors. But today this view has been abandoned, as it is becoming clear that our diet, exercise level and sleep patterns also play a huge role in our health. It is especially becoming clear how a plant-based diet can prevent and even reverse serious illnesses such as diabetes, circulatory diseases and cancers.
So, what is most important? Diet or thoughts? I would like to mention an example – that of my mother.
My mother did not lead a healthy life. She worked very hard and was under as lot of stress. She ate mostly white bread which she washed down with black coffee. She also ate meat but not a lot. She never exercised. She drank half of bottle of gin every night after a long day’s work, and to fall asleep she took a few very strong sleeping pills. To wake up she took other pills that would make her fresh and alert. As she got older, she took a whole battery of pills for this, that and the other. One would think that this type of unhealthy lifestyle would lead her to an early grave, but it did not. It did not, because she had something that could fight it: she was a very light-hearted person. She was fun, full of humour, positive and generally happy. She died when she was 97.
This shows that happy thoughts can overrule all other factors, just as Martinus says. With happy thoughts you magnetize your blood positively and as the blood travels all around your body, to every last nook and cranny, it brings good magnetization to all parts of the body. And the good magnetization means good health. It is quite simple, really.
What to do?
So what to do when you are stuck in negative thought patterns: practice improving your mix of thoughts. Make a conscious effort to change the negative thoughts to happier thoughts and realize that YOU are the one who decides what thoughts are being thought in your thought sphere. The thoughts do not rule you, you rule the thoughts. Make a list of things to be grateful for and go thorough the list every day. Add to the list every day. Practice looking for things to be grateful for. When you start to live in gratitude you attract more things to be grateful for, and you will soon see how your life improves. Living in gratitude is the easiest and best way to change your thoughts and consequently you life. As somebody once said: The struggle ends when the gratitude begins.
