The Mission we are all on
A lot of the people I meet are very frustrated, because they cannot find out what they are doing here. They can see no meaning in their life, nor can they find any purpose. Basically they are lost, and to the extent that they can no longer subscribe to the traditional religions, because they do not satisfy their growing need for a logical explanation to the mystery of life, they become more and more frustrated and spiritually bankrupt.
But the frustration is good, because it marks a point where the answers they are looking for are coming closer. We are not meant to go on living in ignorance about the meaning of life, so once we acknowledge the need for a logical explanation, we are already in the process of attracting it to us. The law of attraction, the most powerful natural law at work in the universe, will bring us those answers. This is not just wishful thinking, it is law.
This happened to me 30 years ago after having been a searching soul for decades. I can without exaggeration say that the moment a book about Martinus landed in my hands, my whole life changed for the better. I intuitively knew that this was where my search ended. I was over the moon with the answers Martinus offered because they appealed to my intellect like nothing I had ever read before. It was not something that I had to believe in, its clear logic convinced me that here were the answers to all the big questions humanity had been searching for forever.
Are we just here to survive and procreate?
The question about the meaning of life is not one that we have been taught in school or university, nor have the religions answered the question in a logical way. Survive and procreate seems to be the answer, but it does not satisfy our search for meaning. We try to hide our search by having fun while passing on our genes. So, we party, we gorge in alcohol and drugs, we are beyond caring what happens to us, as we are all going to die anyway, and then it is lights out forever. Medical science supports us in the idea that we are identical to our physical body, and when the body stops working, we are dead forever. So, the mantra “You only live once” (YOLO) has become the slogan that gives you permission to party till you fall.
Nothing could be a more failed or insane way to view the meaning of being here.
Our mission.
The first step towards finding our mission is to abandon the never proved one-life theory.
The one-life theory blocks our understanding of so many things: who we are, where we are coming from and where we are going, understanding the meaning of life, understanding the solution to the mystery of life, understanding the nature of death, understanding where our talents come from, understanding how conception takes place, understanding where the illnesses we are born with come from… I can go on and on…. The one-life theory is totally false and has never been proven. Nobody has been able to prove that nothing survives the death of the physical body. The one-life theory is my favorite aversion.
Once we have put the one-life theory to rest as the completely illogical and useless idea that it is, the road lies open to finding our mission.
All living beings reincarnate and right now we are all on a journey from primitive to advanced, all-loving human beings. Obviously, such a huge project cannot be completed within a single life on Earth. If we are not our body, who or what are we? We are our consciousness which survives each and every time we lose a physical body. We ARE our consciousness and not our body.
Our consciousness holds all information about who are, and this has been accumulated during thousands of former lives. Furthermore it is a field of energy that sits around our body in the shape of our aura. As energy cannot be created or destroyed, this field survives the death of the body every time the body has become useless due to injury, illness or old age. When the energy field pulls out of the body at “death” it moves on to the spiritual plane, where it rests for a considerable time (usually for as long as your last physical life lasted). And eventually it feels the need to go back to the physical plane to get on with its own development.
Our development from primitive to advanced human being.
And here we are at the core of our mission. It is a mission that all living beings are on. It is a progressive forward movement towards the aim of becoming real human beings that can only express universal love. So, the master plan with our lives is to leave behind our primitive character traits and become enlightened beings. I can also put it like this: we must evolve from a ferocious predator in the jungle to an all-loving human being such as Jesus.
Obviously, this huge project cannot be completed within a single life on Earth. It takes thousands and thousands of lives to reach the high goal of becoming enlightened beings. But we are all on our way. For each life we live, we evolve a little bit. We outgrow our most primitive traits little by little to the tune of becoming aware of the law that rules our fate: The law of karma. This law decrees that we reap as we sow or put in another way: what we do to others, we eventually do to ourselves. Once we discover that we get the same back from the universe as we send out, we will eventually put two and two together and change our ways. We will start sowing only what we would like to reap.
So, our mission is simple: Do what you can to improve yourself and your behavior towards others. If you are prone to cheating, stop, if you are prone to lying, stop, if you are prone to stealing, stop, if you are prone to killing via your diet, stop.
Every time you are about to perform a dishonest or unloving act, ask yourself if you would like this done to yourself. If the answer is no, do not do it.
Make a serious effort to become the best possible version of yourself. Be kind and helpful to everybody.
In that way you have understood your mission in life and you will be very happy that you did so in both this and your future lives. Each little step forward is a step in the right direction. Martinus often said: “My mission is to show that it pays to be good. “
So, go out there and do good and be good. That is your purpose and your mission.
